Surfer winched after near drowning at Noosa

It’s believed the man had come off his board while surfing, and had not returned to the surface.

A fellow surfer, pulled the man from the water, and dragged him up onto a nearby rock ledge.

Due to the difficult terrain, the Sunshine Coast RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter was tasked to the scene, shortly before 3pm.

The aeromedical crew performed a hover exit onto the rocks; offloading their LifeFlight Critical Care Doctor and Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) Flight Paramedic.

The helicopter then landed at a field nearby.

LifeFlight’s Critical Care Doctor and QAS Flight Paramedic worked alongside other emergency service personnel to stabilise the man.

The Sunshine Coast RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter then returned to scene and winched the surfer into the helicopter.

He was transported in a serious but stable condition to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital.
