The community fundraising effort is being run as part of Chopper Awareness Month to help CareFlight raise vital funds for essential medical equipment on board its rescue helicopters.
CareFlight’s North Coast Fundraising Manager Angela Miles said there couldn’t be an easier way to help make a difference.
“People can get involved by dressing casually this Friday and donating to CareFlight.
“Every generous donation, no matter how large or small, will go a long way in helping to raise valuable funds for your local helicopter rescue service.”
All funds raised on Casual for a Cause Day will go directly towards purchasing lifesaving medical kits such as cardiac kits, trauma kits and blood transfusion kits.
“CareFlight treats and airlifts seriously ill or injured patients across Queensland, so it’s crucial our rescue crews on the frontline have the latest medical kits to provide lifesaving pre-hospital care mid-flight or at the scene of an accident,” Ms Miles said.
“With more than 1,400 missions flown in the 2014-2015 financial year and an average of four patients airlifted every single day, it’s likely most people will know someone that has relied on CareFlight’s community helicopter rescue service.
“We hope the community can support us on Friday with a donation, so we can help save even more lives.”
Bendigo Bank branches are also getting involved with Casual for a Cause Day on August 21 as part of Chopper Awareness Month.
