Station hand airlifted from remote Queensland property

It is believed the man was mustering cattle from the back of his quad bike when he unexpectedly fell off and injured himself.

He sustained an injury to his right shoulder, suffered suspected neck and spinal injuries, as well as suspected abdominal injuries.

It is believed that the man was not wearing a helmet while working on the property and had previously been seriously injured in a similar accident.

The Mount Isa RACQ CareFlight Rescue helicopter was tasked to fly to the property at 9.20am this morning, and transported the patient to Mount Isa Hospital in a stable condition.

CareFlight staff wish to stress the importance of wearing protective gear, including helmets, when engaging in all motorbike activities – for work or for leisure.
