The woman was in her backyard on a property at Mungindi, situated on the Queensland-New South Wales border, when she was struck on the ankle around 8.30pm.
The Toowoomba-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter was tasked shortly before 11.30pm overnight to retrieve the woman from Mungindi Hospital – a marathon four-hour return flight.
She was flown to Toowoomba Hospital in a stable condition.
The type of snake is unknown.
