Search underway for fisherman overboard

The Sunshine Coast and Bundaberg RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopters are continuing to assist with the search operation.

The Sunshine Coast-based chopper was called into action at 3:40am, with the Bundaberg helicopter joining the search effort just after 7:30am.

RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter pilot, Jeremy Ovens, said the search area is located around 50 miles off the coast of Noosa.

“It’s a very large body of water where it’s believed the man fell off the vessel around 3 o’clock this morning,” Pilot Ovens said.

“Multiple helicopters and a fixed-wing aircraft have been involved in the search.”

The search operation is being coordinated by Queensland Water Police.
