Before the chopper lands in a nearby football field, CareFlight’s Pilot will skilfully hover above Oakey’s main business street so Santa can wave to the crowd.
The community Christmas celebration will close down Campbell St to make way for a host of free activities for the whole family.
RACQ CareFlight’s Suzie Washington said the free community event will feature kid’s entertainment, market stalls, food and drinks vendors and carnival rides from 6pm.
“Santa bags filled with goodies will also be given out to children thanks to a donation by New Hope Group, a valued CareFlight sponsor.”
The chopper landing will couple as a vital fundraising drive for CareFlight in the lead-up to the service’s notoriously busy Christmas period with a raffle and CareFlight merchandise for sale to support the charity.
RACQ CareFlight Rescue is a lifesaving community helicopter rescue service that relies on the community for almost a third of its funding.
