Not long after, an unmanned 4×4 utility rolled a distance and collided with the tail boom of the Bell 412 helicopter. No one was injured in the collision.
The flight crew immediately inspected the aircraft and deemed it unserviceable for flight.
Senior aircraft engineers will attend the scene today and investigate the damage to the aircraft and decide on how best to recover the aircraft.
A replacement Bell 412 aircraft has been flown from LifeFlight’s Archerfield maintenance base to Toowoomba today.
A preliminary investigation by police has indicated that the 4×4 utility may have had a faulty hand brake.
A Queensland Ambulance vehicle transported the man in his mid twenties to Warwick Hospital where they were met by the Brisbane-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue crew. The patient was then airlifted to Toowoomba Hospital in a stable condition.
