RACQ LifeFlight Rescue winches injured tourist from mountain

The Sunshine Coast-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter was sent to the popular Glass House Mountains hiking area, around 3pm, after reports a man had fallen more than five metres and was injured.

The helicopter crew quickly found him, in what was described as a “challenging location”, making it difficult for other emergency service personnel at the scene, to reach him on foot.

The Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) RACQ LifeFlight Rescue Critical Care paramedic was winched down to the injured walker.

The patient was assessed by the paramedic, before he was secured in a harness and winched safely into the helicopter.

He was then flown to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a stable condition, suffering a number of injuries.
