RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter lands on highway to help injured driver

The Bundaberg-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter responded to the crash, which happened just before 10 o’clock this morning.

A semi-trailer with a flat-bed back, loaded with a large boat, rolled and and landed in a ditch on the side of the road. The boat landed almost on top of the truck cabin. 

Traffic was stopped in both directions as the RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter landed in the middle of the road.

The injured truck driver was already being treated by responding Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) and Queensland Fire and Emergency Service (QFES) crews. Witnesses were assisting to shelter the patient as he was being treated.

The man, believed to be in his thirties, was airlifted to Bundaberg Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
