“In South West Queensland alone last year we treated and transferred 556 patients, many of them with life threatening illness or injury.
“We’d love to catch up with any of our patients and hear how they are going, not just from last year, but from the three decades CareFlight has been flying.”
The Wagner Family and Wellcamp have recognised RACQ CareFlight Rescue’s commitment to the community and are asking for a gold coin donation on the day.
“We have a fabulous partnership with our community who kindly provides 30% of all CareFlight’s funding,” Mr van de Velde said.
“Ironically some of the people who donate at the Wellcamp Open day will either be past patients, or patients of the future.
“Through Wellcamp, and a gold coin donation, the community is directly contributing to its own lifesaving service.”
The opening of the Brisbane West Wellcamp Airport is expected to draw a crowd of around 30,000 people.
The airport, on Cecil Plains Road at Wellcamp, is Australia’s first greenfield public airport built in half a century.
The first privately funded public airport will act as a portal for the large South West community, while providing a gateway for international travellers to Brisbane.
It’s opening has already generated widespread public excitement with 18,000 people attending its ‘Under Construction’ open day late last year.
