An injured bushwalker will be walked from the rugged mountainous region on the Queensland, New South Wales border after being located from the air by a RACQ CareFlight Rescue crew.
The crew was tasked to the Mount Cougal twin peaks region just before five this afternoon.
It’s believed the experienced bushwalker, in his 60s, was injured while hiking and phoned a friend for assistance.
The friend then raised the alarm.
The RACQ CareFlight Rescue helicopter located the man at last light, just after 6pm, on the side of a mountain and alerted emergency services on the ground.
Due to the mountainous, rugged terrain the crew was unable to safely winch the man out of the region.
Alternative plans were made to extract the hiker.
His injuries are not known.
