The Sunshine Coast-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter was called to the scene, north of Gympie, just before 8am.
Police are investigating reports the child’s view was obstructed when she stepped onto the road, in front of a moving car.
She was initially treated by Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) paramedics for several injuries, before LifeFlight’s Critical Care Doctor and flight paramedic arrived.
The patient was stabilised at the scene, before being flown to Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a stable condition, accompanied by her mother.
2018 was a record year for LifeFlight for lifesaving missions with its aeromedical crews, community helicopters and Air Ambulance jets performing a record 5,724 missions throughout Queensland and around the world.
