Patients airlifted following incidents at swimming spots

At 3.15pm this afternoon, the Sunshine Coast RACQ Sunshine Coast Rescue helicopter crew was tasked to fly to Gardner’s Falls, near Maleny in the Glass House Mountains, following reports a man had severely injured himself at the local swimming hole.

It is believed that the man fell between 10 and 15 metres from a tree into the water.

The man was flown to Royal Brisbane Hospital with suspected severe spinal injuries.

He travelled in a stable condition.

At 4.30pm, the Bundaberg crew was tasked to fly to Double Island Point, near Rainbow Beach, were a woman in her mid-30s had reportedly succumbed to a medical condition.

She was assessed at the scene by the CareFlight medical team, before being flown to Hervey Bay Hospital for further observation.
