AVIF0001 
Apply aircraft safety procedures

 

This unit involves the skills and knowledge required to apply aircraft safety procedures, in compliance with relevant regulatory requirements of the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) and national operating standards. It includes preparing for airside operations, operating around aircraft and implementing aviation safety emergency procedures. 

AVIF0004 Implement aviation risk management processes 

This unit involves the skills and knowledge required to implement aviation risk management processes, in compliance with relevant regulatory requirements of the Civil Aviation Safety Authority and national operating standards. It includes identifying, controlling, monitoring and reviewing the effectiveness of risk management processes as part of a safety management system (SMS). Work involves managing the effects of uncertainty on objectives using an SMS within a variety of operational contexts within the Australian aviation industry. 

AVIF0014 Manage human factors in aviation operations 

This unit involves the skills, knowledge and attitudes required to manage human factors in aircraft flight including monitoring own performance, recognising errors and managing corrective action, and managing own physiological and psychological condition. 

AVIF2014 Undertake aircraft underwater escape and survival 
(HUET) 

This unit involves the skills and knowledge required to exit an aircraft during underwater escape situations, including making appropriate survival decisions and working with others. 

AVIF3005 Maintain the safety of people and aircraft 

This unit involves the skills and knowledge required to contribute to the safety of people and aircraft as a member of the aircrew on a commercial aircraft flight, including carrying out required safety procedures, managing safety risks and hazards, following flight crew directions, aiding and assisting passengers during an emergency, and carrying out administrative procedures related to safety matters. 

AVIF3006 Respond to abnormal and emergency situations in an aircraft 

This unit involves the skills and knowledge required to respond to abnormal and emergency situations on a commercial aircraft flight, including responding to a medical emergency during a flight, to adverse weather and/or flying conditions and to various forms of aircraft emergency. It also covers the skills and  knowledge required to respond to fire on board the aircraft, assist in or direct the evacuation of the aircraft, and complete all necessary documentation following an emergency or abnormal incident. 

AVIO0002 Manage disruptive behavior and unlawful interference with aviation 

This unit involves the skills and knowledge required to manage disruptive behaviour and unlawful interference with aviation, in compliance with relevant regulatory requirements of the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) and national operating standards. It includes monitoring passenger behaviour, identifying and resolving disruptive or unlawful interference, taking action to manage unlawful interference, and reporting and documenting unlawful interference with aviation. 

AVIW3025 Complete aircraft and flight equipment pre and post flight actions 

This unit involves the skills and knowledge required to prepare aircraft and specialist equipment for a flight, and to perform and certify flight-servicing inspections including pre- and post-flight requirements. 

AVIY3052 Conduct helicopter landing site and unprepared helicopter landing site operations 

This unit involves the skills and knowledge required to conduct Helicopter Landing Site (HLS) and Unprepared Helicopter Landing Site (UHLS) operations (confined area). 

AVIZ1005 Maintain basic situation awareness in the aviation workplace 

This unit involves the skills, knowledge and attitudes required to manage basic situation awareness in aviation workplaces, including being aware of and assessing situations, making appropriate decisions, setting appropriate work priorities, carrying out workplace tasks, and communicating/working with others in accordance with workplace procedures and relevant regulatory requirements.

This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to work with teams and individuals, their standard of conduct and the initiative they take in influencing others. At this level, work will normally be carried out within routine and non-routine methods and procedures which require the exercise of some discretion and judgment. 

TLIA1001 Secure Cargo 

This unit involves the skills and knowledge required to secure cargo including preparing to secure cargo/containers, lashing and unlashing cargo, protecting cargo from weather, and packing and unpacking cargo. 

TLID2003 Handle dangerous goods/hazardous substances 

This unit involves the skills and knowledge required to handle dangerous goods and hazardous substances in accordance with relevant work health safety 
(WHS)/occupational health and safety (OHS) regulations concerning the safe handling of dangerous goods and hazardous substances, within the transport and logistics industry.  It includes identifying requirements for working with dangerous goods and/or hazardous substances, confirming site incident procedures and selecting handling techniques 

TLIE3002 Estimate/calculate mass, area and quantify dimensions 

This unit involves the skills and knowledge required to estimate and calculate mass and area and quantify dimensions of loads as part of work functions in the transport, stevedoring, warehousing, and/or storage sectors. This includes estimating loads to be transported or placed in storage, identifying mass, area and volume limitations of available transport/storage systems and carrying out calculations required to organise load(s) to match identified transport/storage limitations. 

AVIE0001 Operate aeronautical radio 

his unit involves the skills and knowledge required to operate an aeronautical radio. It includes operating radio equipment and managing radiotelephone equipment malfunctions.

AVIF0002 Provide first aid in the aviation environment 

This unit involves the skills and knowledge required to provide first aid in the aviation environment. It includes responding to an inflight emergency, applying appropriate inflight first aid procedures, communicating incident details and evaluating the incident.

AVIF0005 Implement aviation fatigue risk management processes 

This unit involves the skills and knowledge required to implement aviation fatigue risk management processes. It includes identifying, controlling, monitoring and reviewing the effectiveness of fatigue risk management processes as part of a safety management system (SMS).

AVIF2015 
Utilise emergency breathing system 

This unit involves the skills  and knowledge required  to utilise an  emergency breathing system (EBS). It includes preparing an EBS for use, operating an EBS and completing EBS post-operational procedures. 

AVIY4054 Conduct hoisting operations 

This unit involves the skills and knowledge required to conduct hoisting operations from a helicopter and includes personnel and stores transfers, rescue net operations, stretcher lifts, double harness lifts and hi-line transfers. 

HLTAID007 Provide advanced resuscitation 

This unit deals with the provision of advanced first aid resuscitation techniques, life support, and management of casualty(s), until the arrival of medical or other assistance, and provision of support to other providers.

TLIO1002 Follow security procedures when working with passengers and personnel 

This unit involves the skills and knowledge required to follow security procedures in the transport and logistics industry. It includes checking and maintaining the security of any passengers, workplace personnel and visitors; identifying and responding to any security threats or situations, and completing all required security records.
