Our Doctors & Nurses
Medical retrieval services are at the cornerstone of who we are. We specialise in the recruitment, training and provision of front-line critical care doctors and nurses for air-medical retrieval throughout Queensland and beyond.
Employing a team of more than 150 doctors and flight nurses, LifeFlight exclusively supplies medical staff to all Queensland-based rescue helicopters and LifeFlight’s Air Ambulance jets.
LifeFlight doctors attend to more than 10 patients every day; reaching almost 5,000 people in need of assistance each year.
As well as servicing regional and remote Queensland communities, LifeFlight doctors perform medical retrievals right across Australia and throughout the Asia Pacific region. Our medical teams work on board a network of both rotary wing and fixed-wing aircraft from aeromedical bases located throughout Queensland; including Cairns, Townsville, Mackay, Rockhampton, Sunshine Coast, Toowoomba, Roma and Brisbane.
LifeFlight also assists Retrieval Services Queensland with doctors, when required, on fixed wing aeromedical services, including inter-hospital patient transfers performed by the Royal Flying Doctor Service to and from regional centres such as Brisbane, Bundaberg and Townsville.
Each and every one of our doctors and nurses is highly skilled in their field. They bring a broad range of experience in retrieval medicine and pre-hospital care directly to our patients in times of need. Our medical teams receive ongoing clinical supervision and specialised training through our internationally recognised training academy to ensure our patients receive the highest level of care.
LifeFlight works in close partnership with the Queensland Government to place our doctors on board community and Government-owned rescue helicopters across the State. Our retrieval medicine division also performs a number of charitable services which are supported by commercial ‘profit for purpose’ enterprises and donations from the community.
