Woman winched from cruise ship

The Bundaberg-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter has demonstrated its critical importance to the Wide Bay community with three lifesaving airlifts in less than 24 hours.

A 23-year-old woman was winched off the Pacific Explorer cruise ship by a LifeFlight Aircrewman and Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) Flight Paramedic after she suffered a medical condition while on board the ship.

The ship was approximately 74 kilometres off the Fraser Coast when the woman had to be rescued.

She was airlifted to Bundaberg Base Hospital in a stable condition for further treatment.
