Woman flown to hospital after collision with truck

The Sunshine Coast-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter was dispatched in the early hours of the morning, to airlift a young woman, injured when the car in which she was travelling, collided with a truck in the Gympie region.

The woman, aged in her twenties, was treated at the crash scene by Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) officers, before being driven to meet the RACQ LifeFlight aeromedical team at a nearby helicopter landing site.

The woman was assessed by the RACQ LifeFlight critical care doctor, then flown to the Royal Brisbane and Womens Hospital.

She was in a stable condition, suffering suspected spinal injuries, when she was airlifted.
