Woman airlifted after car crash over embankment

The Sunshine Coast RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter has flown a female driver to hospital, after she was involved in a car crash early this morning.

The rescue chopper was called to the Sunshine Coast hinterland just after 6am.

It's believed the woman lost control of her vehicle, which left the road and rolled several metres down an embankment.

RACQ LifeFlight Rescue's pilot was able to land the helicopter on a patch of land, near the crash scene.

Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) paramedics, Queensland Fire and Emergency Service (QFES) firefighters and Queensland Police Service (QPS) officers were all on the scene, when the aeromedical team arrived.

The patient was stabilised, before being flown to Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a stable condition, with upper body injuries, under the care of LifeFlight's Critical Care Doctor and QAS Flight Paramedic.
