Two choppers called to high speed collision
The Sunshine Coast and Bundaberg RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter aeromedical crews, each airlifted a patient from a high speed collision, north of Maryborough this afternoon.
Both helicopters were sent to the scene shortly after 1pm, where emergency services closed the highway to create a makeshift landing pad.
Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) paramedics were already at work, along with Queensland Fire and Emergency Service officers, when the choppers arrived.
The Sunshine Coast aeromedical crew left the scene first, with a man aged in his seventies, who had suffered multiple injuries.
He was transported in a stable condition to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital.
The Bundaberg RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter followed shortly after with a woman, aged in her fifties, who had also suffered multiple injuries.
She was also transported in a stable condition to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital.
