Tragic end to holiday for overseas tourist

A holiday has ended in tragedy for an overseas tourist, after he dived into shallow water and hit his head, at a Noosa holiday park this afternoon. 

The man, aged in his 20s, was enjoying the popular swimming area with his parents when the accident occurred. 

The Sunshine Coast RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter treated the man at the scene for suspected spinal injuries.

He was flown to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in a serious but stable condition. 

2018 was a record year for LifeFlight for lifesaving missions with its aeromedical crews, community helicopters and Air Ambulance jets performing a record 5,724 missions throughout Queensland and around the world.
