RACQ LifeFlight Rescue winches injured bushwalker
The Sunshine Coast RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter has winched a local man to safety, after he fell down a steep gorge at Kondalilla falls this afternoon.
The chopper was called to the hinterland location, after reports a bushwalker had fallen ten metres, at around 4 o'clock.
LifeFlight's Critical Care Doctor and flight paramedic were winched down to the patient, aged in his forties, who had suffered leg, pelvic and head injuries.
The chopper was able to land nearby while he was being stabilised.
Because of the difficult location, it was decided the bushwalker would need to be winched out, so the helicopter hovered overhead while he was hoisted up to safety.
The man was flown to Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.
2018 was a record year for LifeFlight for lifesaving missions with its aeromedical crews, community helicopters and Air Ambulance jets performing a record 5,724 missions throughout Queensland and around the world.
