RACQ LifeFlight Rescue winch injured hiker off Mt Cooroora

A woman is recovering in hospital after she fell approximately four metres, down a steep section of Mt Cooroora, while hiking to the summit.

The Sunshine Coast RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter was sent to the scene shortly before 8am.

The aeromedical crew winched their Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) Critical Care Flight Paramedic down to the injured woman.

After the Paramedic stabilised the hiker on the ground, they were both winched back up to the helicopter.

The woman suffered upper body injuries and was flown in a stable condition to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital for further medical assessment.
