RACQ LifeFlight Rescue crew locates lost woman and pet dogs

A woman and her two dogs have been found safe and well, after spending 24 hours lost in bushland near Childers.

The Bundaberg RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter was called in to search for the 45-year-old and her pets, just before 9 o'clock this morning.

Queensland Police Service (QPS) coordinated the search and was assisted by State Emergency Service (SES) personnel.

The rescue chopper spent several hours circling dense bushland, looking for any sign of the woman from above.

Just before 1pm, members of the RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter crew managed to spot the woman, who was waving to the chopper to attract attention.

The pilot was able to land the aircraft at the nearby search coordination area and notify ground officers of her location, before QPS retrieved her.

It's believed she went for a walk yesterday afternoon, hit her head and became disoriented.

2018 was a record year for LifeFlight for lifesaving missions with its aeromedical crews, community helicopters and Air Ambulance jets performing a record 5,724 missions throughout Queensland and around the world.
