Overseas tourist bitten by snake on Fraser Island
An overseas tourist has been airlifted, following a suspected snake bite, from Fraser Island overnight.
The Bundaberg-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter landed at Happy Valley, just after midnight.
The man, aged in his early 20s, was bitten by the snake near his campsite.
He was airlifted to Hervey Bay Hospital in a stable condition.
It was the second snake bite victim, airlifted by the Bundaberg RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter, since Sunday.
The 2017-2018 financial year was a record year for LifeFlight for lifesaving missions with its aeromedical crews, community helicopters and Air Ambulance jets performing a record 5,452 missions throughout Queensland and around the world.
