Man airlifted after being trampled by a cow

A man in his sixties has been airlifted after being trampled by a cow south of Gympie (Saturday afternoon).

The Sunshine Coast based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter was tasked just before 2pm to a private property. It's believed the property owner was trying to separate a calf from it's mother when the cow ran down the man and stomped on him.

Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) paramedics initially treated the patient on the scene, before the aeromedical crew arrived.

LifeFlight's Critical Care doctor, along with the flight paramedic treated him for a serious head, chest and multiple limb injuries and was airlifted to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a serious condition.
