Highway rollover leaves child seriously injured
A primary school-aged girl is recovering in hospital, after she suffered multiple injuries in a car crash earlier today.
It's believed she was travelling in the back seat of the vehicle, when it crashed on the Bruce Highway, south west of Bundaberg, rolling several times.
The Sunshine Coast-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter was sent to the scene shortly after 5am.
LifeFlight's Critical Care Doctor worked alongside paramedics from the Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) to treat the girl at the scene, before stablising her for her flight to hospital.
She was flown to the Queensland Children's Hospital for further treatment.
2018 was a record year for LifeFlight for lifesaving missions with its aeromedical crews, community helicopters and Air Ambulance jets performing a record 5,724 missions throughout Queensland and around the world.
