Tourist nearly drowns at Moreton Island
A Chinese tourist has nearly drowned at Moreton Island, prompting rescue efforts by the Brisbane RACQ LifeFlight Rescue chopper.
The Brisbane-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter was tasked to the island just after 4.45pm yesterday afternoon.
The man, aged in his early 20s, was unconscious for short period of time after he was pulled from the water.
He was treated at the scene before being airlifted to a Brisbane hospital in a stable condition.
2017 was a record year for LifeFlight for lifesaving missions with its aeromedical crews, community helicopters and Air Ambulance jets performing a record 5,344 missions throughout Queensland and around the world.
