Tourist has near drowning at Tangalooma

The Sunshine Coast RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter has airlifted a tourist after he nearly drowned at Moreton Island this afternoon.

The man in his 30s who is was snorkelling at the shipwrecks at Tangalooma when the incident occured.

The tourist was stabilised by Queensland Ambulance Service paramedics and the LifeFlight aeromedical crew before being flown to Princess Alexandra Hospital.

2016-17 was a record year for LifeFlight for lifesaving missions with its aeromedical crews, community helicopters and Air Ambulance jets performing a record 5,342 missions throughout Queensland and around the world.
