The South Burnett bucks a big one for LifeFlight
South Burnett Regional Councillor, Roz Frohloff, has ticked off an item from her bucket list; taking on a steer at the Nanango Show Rodeo over the weekend.
"I rode the steer, I didn't quite last the eight seconds but at least I got out of the chute," Cr Frohloff said.
There was a serious side to the ambitious affair, Cr Frohloff wanted to give back to the lifesaving aeromedical charity, RACQ LifeFlight Rescue.
"We've raised more than $2,500 at the moment but I'm hoping we can crack $3,000," Cr Frohloff said.
Cr Frohloff knows all to well the reality of what the RACQ LifeFlight Rescue crews attend to every day.
"I was a paramedic for 20 years before I joined the South Burnett Regional Council and used to work alongside the aeromedical crews," Cr Frohloff said.
"You never know when you may need LifeFlight. Their work in the South Burnett is invaluable," Cr Frohloff said.
"I'd jump on the steer again if it meant raising more money for LifeFlight."
LifeFlight Fundraising Coordinator, Mandy Hentschel said it's thanks to the determination of people like Roz that LifeFlight is able to come to the aid of thousands of Queenslanders in their time of need.
"What Roz has accomplished is incredible, she stepped outside her comfort zone and really did go the extra mile to raise vital funds for the LifeFlight Foundation," Mandy said.
2017 was a record year for LifeFlight for lifesaving missions with its aeromedical crews, community helicopters and Air Ambulance jets performing a record 5,344 missions throughout Queensland and around the world.
LifeFlight is a community-based charity funded and supported by the LifeFlight Foundation
