Six hour round trip to airlift child
The Brisbane-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter completed a 6 hour round trip overnight to airlift a child to a higher level of care.
The aeromedical crew diverted to the Queensland Children's Hospital to pick a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) team for the job.
They left for Roma airport shortly before 9pm and didn't return back to their base until after 3am, once they'd transferred the child and PICU team to the Queensland Children's Hospital.
It follows another marathon mission, from earlier this month, which saw LifeFlight's Surat Gas Aeromedical Service complete a 10 hour round trip.
