RACQ LifeFlight Rescue joins the search for missing boatie

RACQ LifeFlight Rescue is urging all boaties to ensure they have working tracking devices attached to their vessels when heading out on the water and to regularly check in with friends and family.

It comes after the Queensland Police Service tasked the Sunshine Coast-based helicopter on a search mission for a missing boatie early this morning.

The aeromedical crew scouted areas across the Wide Bay; including Fraser Island and Lady Elliot Island.

While the crew were unable to locate the vessel the man on board the vessel later made contact with his family.

The 2017-2018 financial year was a record year for LifeFlight for lifesaving missions with its aeromedical crews, community helicopters and Air Ambulance jets performing a record 5,452 missions throughout Queensland and around the world.

LifeFlight is a community-based charity funded and supported by the LifeFlight Foundation
