Fishing accident injures man
The Bundaberg-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter has airlifted a man in his thirties after he was involved in a fishing accident on Northwest Island, approximately 75 kilometres off the coast of Gladstone.
The man received lower limb injuries and was treated at the scene by an off-duty doctor.
RACQ LifeFlight Rescue landed shortly after and a Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) Flight Paramedic assessed the man.
He was then airlifted to Bundaberg in a stable condition.
2016-17 was a record year for LifeFlight for lifesaving missions with its aeromedical crews, community helicopters and Air Ambulance jets performing a record 5,342 missions throughout Queensland and around the world.
