Ammunition explosion causes serious injury
The Toowoomba-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter has airlifted an elderly man after a freak ammunition reloading accident west of Dalby.
The man suffered serious injuries after an ammunition round exploded in the reloading die.
RACQ LifeFlight Rescue airlifted the man to Archerfield airport where he was met by Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) paramedics who continued transferring the patient to the Princess Alexandra Hospital.
The 2017-2018 financial year was a record year for LifeFlight for lifesaving missions with its aeromedical crews, community helicopters and Air Ambulance jets performing a record 5,452 missions throughout Queensland and around the world.
