All roads lead to the Burrandowan Picnic Races

With the Toowoomba-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue crew having performed almost 500 lifesaving missions last year, costing more than six million dollars, the LifeFlight Foundation has been named as the charity of choice for this weekend's Burrandowan Picnic Races.

The iconic event, held 'in the middle of nowhere', will see punters and revellers come to life as they take part in everything from fashions on the field to clay shooting.

Last year locals managed to raise $6,890 for their local aeromedical service.

LifeFlight Fundraising Coordinator, Mandy Hentschel, said it's great to see regional towns, like Burrandowan, get behind a service which is so vital to their community.

"Each of LifeFlight's missions costs around $12,500 however each mission is of no charge to the patient, so every little bit helps," Mandy said.

2017 was a record year for LifeFlight for lifesaving missions with its aeromedical crews, community helicopters and Air Ambulance jets performing a record 5,344 missions throughout Queensland and around the world.

LifeFlight is a community-based charity funded and supported by the LifeFlight Foundation
