Woman trapped in vehicle on Burnett Highway
RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter has airlifted a woman in her 70s who was involved in a single vehicle accident on the Burnett Highway this morning.
The woman became trapped in her vehicle after swerving off the narrow road and into a ditch.
The vehicle contained two people - the female driver and a male passenger.
Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) and Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) were first on the scene, cutting the woman free by removing the driver’s door and providing initial medical treatment. The male passenger sustained no injuries and was transported via road to a local hospital.
Sunshine Coast based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter was tasked to the accident at 10:10am.
Due to a closure of part of the Burnett Highway - limiting access to the road - the crew landed the helicopter in a farm yard approximately 300 metres from the crash site.
After taking spinal injury precautions, the RACQ LifeFlight Rescue crew transported the patient in a stable condition to Nambour Hospital. The patient was believed to have suffered minor injuries.
