Strong partnership fuels lifesaving service

IOR Petroleum celebrated the opening of its new Charlton, 24/7 fuel station today with a visit from the Toowoomba-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter, in honour of their 10 years of partnership with the lifesaving service.

The inclusion of the local rescue helicopter was a highlight of IOR Petroleum’s new site opening with a country morning tea and barbecue to coincide with Toowoomba FarmFest, officiated by Mayor Paul Antonio.

IOR have been long-time supporters of LifeFlight and helped the service ‘take-off’ in the South-West, contributing vital funding to the opening of the Toowoomba base in 2006.

It has continued to be a loyal supporter of RACQ LifeFlight Rescue, donating in excess of $250,000 over 10 years to ensure the provision of a 24/7 emergency air medical rescue service. It’s a partnership fuelled by the needs of the South-West community should serious accidents or illnesses strike.

LifeFlight’s Chief Operating Officer, Brian Guthrie - who was an Aircrewman for LifeFlight when the Toowoomba base opened in 2006, has seen the benefits of IOR’s generous sponsorship firsthand.

“The support within our South-West community, from residents and businesses alike, has been invaluable over our 10 years of operation in the region,” Mr Guthrie said.

“This calendar year our Toowoomba-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter has already performed more than 240 lifesaving missions, and the need for our service continues to increase.

“As a community-based charity we rely on the support of the public and our corporate sponsors. IOR Petroleum have made a tangible difference to saving lives in the South-West through their continued support of LifeFlight.”

LifeFlight will also hit the road with IOR petroleum from next month with its logo appearing on over 25 trucks as part of the next phase of the partnership.

IOR Petroleum Managing Director, Stewart Morland – who sits on the LifeFlight Board - believes the partnership runs deep due to both organisations’ passion and dedication for saving the lives of Queenslanders.

“IOR is immensely proud of our ten-year support of LifeFlight. IOR Petroleum is built on its local relationships with the community, which is why we are committed to supporting one of Australia's largest aeromedical charities through our Business Partnership.

“LifeFlight offers a tremendous service through its rapid response medical care, and just like us at IOR Petroleum, LifeFlight is also committed to going that extra mile to help the community,” Mr Morland said.

LifeFlight is a community-based charity that relies on donations from the public and community support.
