Sand boarding accident leaves teen in hospital

A 15-year-old boy has been airlifted from Orchard Beach, at Fraser Island, by the Sunshine Coast RACQ LifeFlight Rescue Helicopter after a sand boarding accident. 

The teen suffered suspected neck and spinal injuries after coming off his board earlier this afternoon. 

Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) paramedics treated the teen at the scene before the areomedical crew transferred him to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a stable condition. 

Also on the move was the Bundaberg RACQ LifeFight Rescue Helicopter which transferred a 38-year-old male, who was suffering from cardiac complications, from Kingfisher Resort to the Hervey Bay Hospital. 

He too was transported in a stable condition.
