Rescue of fallen paraglider off Sunshine Coast
The Sunshine Coast-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter airlifted a man in his mid-twenties after the sail of his paraglider malfunctioned and he fell into the side of the Point Cartwright Lighthouse cliffs.
It is believed the paraglider fell approximately five metres and rolled down a section of the cliff where he sustained suspected spinal, leg and arm injuries.
The Sunshine Coast-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter was tasked to the scene at approximately 2.20pm and landed on some nearby rocks.
Emergency service personnel assisted in rescuing the man who was carried on a stretcher to the RACQ LifeFlight helicopter.
The man was airlifted to the Nambour General Hospital in a stable condition.
