Male airlifted after jet ski accident Jumpinpin Bar
A jet ski rider has had a lucky escape at Jumpinpin Bar after being hit in the head by a jet ski after falling from his watercraft.
The 47 year old male from Logan had been riding with friends at Jumpinpin Bar before midday on Sunday when he fell from his jet ski. Friends noticed he was struggling in the water and another jet ski rider assisted him from the water.
After being pulled to safety, a wave washed both people into the water. One of the jet skis hit the original victim in the head. Friends helped him to shore before alerting emergency services.
The Brisbane based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter was first on the scene. The medical team assessed the patient and treated him for head and neck injuries. The Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) assisted in his treatment and then drove the patient a short distance to where the rescue helicopter had landed.
He was airlifted to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.
