Farmer airlifted after horse fall

The Sunshine Coast-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter has airlifted a 79-year-old farmer after he fell from his horse on a property outside Eidsvold, 54 kilometres north-west of Gayndah.

The man suffered suspected spinal injuries and was airlifted to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a stable condition for further treatment. 

RACQ LifeFlight Rescue was called to the scene just after 12.45pm.

Since July, RACQ LifeFlight Rescue has airlifted 15 patients who have been involved in horse-riding accidents.

2016-17 was a record year for LifeFlight for lifesaving missions with its aeromedical crews, community helicopters and Air Ambulance jets performing a record 5,342 missions throughout Queensland and around the world.
