Elderly couple airlifted from roof following flood

The RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter crew has rescued a couple in their 60s from rising floodwaters after they became stranded on the roof of their home at Cedar Creek, near Mount Glorious.

The male and female Cedar Creek locals awoke to see their home flooded and climbed onto the roof for safety after calling emergency services for assistance.

The Sunshine Coast-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter was called to the scene at 5:46am.

The crew winched both people aboard the helicopter one at a time and transported them to safer ground, approximately 300 metres away from their property.

The couple were uninjured and required no medical treatment.

Earlier this morning, the RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter was also sent to investigate two other emergency calls around the Cedar Creek area.

The crew landed in a paddock close to the two properties from where the call had been made, they located six people who were safe and no longer needed emergency assistance.
