Child airlifted after near drowning at Tin Can Bay
The Sunshine Coast-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter was tasked to Tin Can Bay at 1:15pm to treat and transport an 8 year old boy who was involved in a near drowning incident.
The boy was floating on a toy flotation device but due to the strong tides was swept away by the current.
A male bystander, in his 40s, went out with his boat to bring him back to shore.
He was treated on-scene by the RACQ LifeFlight Rescue medical team before being flown to Nambour General Hospital. A parent accompanied him on the flight.
He was transported in a stable condition.
