LifeFlight airlifts Chinese tourist from Fraser
A Chinese tourist was airlifted from Fraser Island after she suffered a serious ankle injury this afternoon.
The Bundaberg-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter was called to assist the woman in her 50s shortly before 3.30pm.
It’s understood the woman was enjoying a tour at Lake Mckenzie at the time she was injured.
She reportedly twisted and seriously fractured her right ankle as she stepped off a bus onto sand.
The patient was transported by the Queensland Ambulance Service to meet the waiting rescue helicopter.
The woman was treated on the island by the helicopter’s Flight Paramedic before being flown to Hervey Bay Hospital for further treatment.
She travelled in a stable condition.
