Mount Isa rescue helicopter flies to single vehicle roll-over
The Mount Isa-based RACQ CareFlight Rescue helicopter was activated late yesterday (Sunday, 8 November) afternoon to attend to a high speed motor vehicle accident near Mckinlay in the State’s north west.
The CareFlight crew were tasked to fly to a stretch of the Landsborough Highway, about 20 kilometres north of Mckinlay, just before 3.40pm in response to reports of a single vehicle roll-over.
It is believed the vehicle had rolled between five to six times. The sole occupant of the vehicle was a woman in her early 20s.
The woman was able to extricate herself from the vehicle, but suffered multiple injuries to her face and head, and multiple limb lacerations.
The CareFlight helicopter met local emergency service crews at the accident site, who helped load the woman into the aircraft.
The patient was flown to Mount Isa Hospital in a stable condition.
