Man airlifted by CareFlight’s Mount Isa chopper after single vehicle rollover

The Mount Isa-based RACQ CareFlight Rescue helicopter has airlifted a man in his early 30s from the scene of a single vehicle accident this afternoon.

The Mount Isa crew was tasked to an area approximately 38 kilometres North West of Cloncurry shortly after 12.40pm.

It’s believed the vehicle was travelling along a straight stretch of road towards Mount Isa when it rolled over.

A male passenger was pulled unconscious from the vehicle by bystanders before emergency crews arrived.

The Flight Paramedic on board the CareFlight helicopter assisted Queensland Ambulance Service and Queensland Fire and Rescue Officers onsite to treat the three occupants of the vehicle.

The male passenger was then flown to Mount Isa Hospital in a serious but stable condition with suspected head injuries.

The female driver of the vehicle was transferred to Mount Isa Hospital via road ambulance with suspected abdominal injuries.

She was accompanied by a female aged in her teens who was also in the vehicle at the time of the accident.

Both female occupants of the vehicle left the scene in a stable condition.
