CareFlight winches woodcutter from accident site
RACQ CareFlight Rescue has airlifted a seriously injured patient from the scene of a woodcutting accident near Mungy, north-east of Mundubbera, this morning.
It is believed the 25-year-old man was felling trees when he was forced backwards, lost his footing, and fell approximately 4 metres over a sheer embankment.
He suffered multiple trauma injuries as a result.
CareFlight’s Bundaberg-based helicopter was dispatched to the scene just before 8.30am, and arrived shortly after.
Due to steep, heavily forested terrain around the accident site, the CareFlight crew were forced to land at a nearby clearing, where they were met by a second woodcutter who drove the flight paramedic to the injured man.
After being stabilised, the patient was winched into the helicopter.
The man was flown to Bundaberg Hospital in the care of the CareFlight medical team.
He travelled in a serious but stable condition.
