CareFlight airlifts injured rally car driver to Brisbane
A man in his 50s has been injured during a rally car race near Jimna in the Somerset region, requiring the urgent airlift by an RACQ CareFlight Rescue helicopter.
The driver sustained suspected spinal and chest injuries after crashing into a tree.
The Toowoomba RACQ CareFlight Rescue helicopter was tasked to the Brisbane Sporting Car Club rally event around 12.30pm, landing nearby the scene shortly after 1pm.
The man’s injuries were assessed and treated by CareFlight’s Critical Care Doctor and the QAS Flight Intensive Care Paramedic.
He was flown to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in a stable condition.
