Two utes collide head-on near Injune
A 47 year old man from Emerald sustained a serious eye injury and two others escaped with minor injuries after utilities they were travelling in collided head-on this afternoon.
One of the vehicles is reported to have rolled multiple times in the crash, which happened at approximately 2.30pm yesterday afternoon on the Carnarvon Highway, roughly seven kilometres south of Injune in Queensland’s far South West.
The Roma based Surat Gas Aero-Medical Service airlifted the injured 47 year old to Brisbane’s Princess Alexandra Hospital.
The patient’s wife was also involved in the crash but escaped serious injury and accompanied him on the journey. The patient travelled in a stable condition.
A third person involved in the crash, a male, received minor injuries and was taken by road ambulance to Roma Hospital.
The Surat Gas Aero-Medical Service began flying in April 2011, to minimise impacts on community medical services in Queensland’s far south west. The service donates the aircraft to the community and has airlifted nearly 150 seriously ill or injured residents in that time.
