Two back to back airlifts from Fraser Island
The Bundaberg RACQ CareFlight Rescue helicopter was called to Fraser Island twice today for two separate patients with lower limb injuries.
Their first call out was around 8.30 this morning for a 60 year old man who sustained a suspected leg injury after falling from rocks.
The accident happened near Orchid Beach on Fraser Island yesterday.
A local doctor treated the man and drove him to the Orchid Beach helipad to meet the CareFlight helicopter.
He was airlifted to Hervey Bay Hospital. Soon after returning to base, the Bundaberg crew were tasked again, this time to Kingfisher Bay where a 13 year old boy was injured while riding a stand up paddle board.
The boy was treated for a suspected knee dislocation and was flown to Hervey Bay Hospital.
Both patients travelled in a stable condition.
