Second Fraser Island marine sting in 24 hours
RACQ CareFlight Rescue has flown to the aid of a second person stung by a marine stinger in Fraser Island waters.
A 19 year old woman was stung while swimming near the Sandy Cape Lighthouse on the island’s northwest coast earlier this afternoon.
The Bundaberg based RACQ CareFlight Rescue helicopter flew to Orchid Beach where its intensive care flight paramedic treated the teen for suspected irukandji syndrome symptoms.
She was airlifted to Hervey Bay Hospital in a stable condition shortly before 5pm.
It’s the second marine sting RACQ CareFlight Rescue has responded to in less than 24 hours.
